CDC Warns About Weddings

In case you didn't know, about a year ago the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released on their blog what to do in the face of a zombie apocalypse. It's pretty excellent and good advice in my opinion.

Well, they are at it again. This time, they are offering advice on surviving a wedding, whether you be the bride, the groom, family, or simply a guest. You can read the article here, but here are some of my favorite snipets:

  • The bridal kit should include extra safety pins, makeup for touchups, maybe a few sedatives.
  • If a tornado warning rips through the area, would you know what to do?  200 guests are not going to be able to crowd into the one windowless bathroom.
    • This is a valid point actually. Something I didn't think of...
  • Emergencies could range from a tear in your wedding gown, tornado, health issues, monster-in-laws, or bridezilla on the loose.
Also some of the comments are pretty humorous, too. For instance:
  • One should also use the Incident/Unified (bride and groom to be of course) Command System or ICS for your wedding plans as well as any other large family event……Operations, Logistics, Planning and most impotantly, Administration/Finance.
  • You can cover all of these areas (and more) without lifting a finger by hiring a professional and experienced wedding planner!
    • Hmmm... wonder what they do for a living!
Of course there were the individuals who thought the CDC's use of blog space on this topic was a waste. In my opinion, these posts get people looking at the CDC's website and they may see the more 'important' information. That, and being involved in a wedding can be stressful, thus is a valid health concern.

So anyway, what do you think? I hope it made you smile like it did for me! We're almost done with the week!
