On Pinning and Related Thoughts

So, like most [female] bloggers, I have become slightly attached to Pinterest. It is great for saving recipes, DIY ideas, cute and happy things, etc.


However, as with all things where people are involved, I notice things that just seem off, wrong, ironic, or just plain funny. So here is a list for you of things Jessica randomly noticed about Pinterest:

• Men should get off. Well, specifically, men who post pornographic images and the like-- I do not want to see that thank you very much.
• Also, I don't want to see local, national, international businesses promoting anything. I should find a way to block those things...
• I find it humorous when people pin things on the wrong board. I know that may be slightly mean and I hope it is an accident, but between my OCD and dry humor, I really enjoy when I see someone post a picture of an engagement ring under "Books Worth Reading."
• I know some people have commented on non-dating/non-engaged women planning their wedding on this site, and while I'm sure you can go overboard, I know most women secretly store up images in their head (and maybe in a secret computer folder or a shoebox) of wedding ideas. I know I did. Did I feel like I had to stick with them when I did get engaged? No, but it was fun to day dream. 
• Of course I love the irony of all of my dessert pins sitting next to my physical exercise pins.

Ah, a girl can dream! One day we will do some extensive traveling, but til then, I'll be studying about CRIM theories, regression analyses, and research designs until my eyes bleed. Wish me luck!

How Pinteresting!

Dude. It's February first. I literally cannot believe it. As this semester is particularly crazy, I need to start doing a lot of my cooking on the weekend. Otherwise it is every recipe gets thrown in the slow cooker. I like those recipes, but sometimes I want to actually cook. You know, with a skillet or something. Plus I can cook with Matt, which makes it 10 times more interesting fun. 


So I've been on the lookout for some fun and tasty recipes we could make in the coming weekends, and here are some I've found!

Strawberry Balsamic Pizza with Chicken, Sweet onion and Bacon... Om nom nom

Twice-baked stuffed spaghetti squash

Chicken gyros

Healthy spinach lasagna rolls

And because no food-related post is complete without one from the Pioneer Woman...

Short ribs in tomato sauce

 Today's self-declared theme: cooking. I told my husband a few weeks ago that he pretty much never needs to buy me a cookbook due to the plethora of recipes on the internet, a lot of which I've found through Pinterest. Thank you social networking for keeping us well-fed!

How about some home-made broccoli cheddar soup? Maybe it will start to get colder in Texas...

Absolutely delicious blueberry buttermilk coffee cake. Make it this weekend. Seriously

One of my favorite combos-- grilled cheese & tomato soup, but fancified

Baked chicken & spinach pasta.. looks yummy!

And to end on a(nother) sweet note, mint chocolate chip cookies!

 

How Pinteresting Wednesday!

Per my usual Wednesdays, I'm not driving to campus. Hooray! So I figured I would join in this link up for the first time.

 Oh yes, I have joined the world of Pinterest. When I go on the site as a break from work in the TA office, people definitely look at me weird.
